[Sing! Rehearsals] Sing!’s Got Talent – Monday 15 December

Hi Sing!ers,

Watch out for the usual weekly email tomorrow……

Here’s all you need to know for Sing!’s Got Talent 2025! It’s a relaxed social evening and a chance to celebrate some of the amazing talent we have in our choir. It’s just us (Sing! members only) and very reasonably priced at £0! We do ask you to bring some food though 🍔😋

ACTION REQUIRED

👉 Add your food contribution to the spreadsheet below

👉 If you offered to perform and you haven’t heard from me by tomorrow… please get in touch!

WHEN AND WHERE

 🗓️ Monday 15th December, 7pm until 11pm

📍 The Cass Centre, Shaftesbury Rd, Cambridge, CB2 8BS https://maps.app.goo.gl/6hRHB3XPU125YSGw9

🚗 There is plenty of car parking space at the venue

TALENT SHOW

🎤 Thank you to the brave and brilliant folk who have volunteered to perform! We have a full roster! The plan is to start once we’ve grabbed some food and drink, and finish by around 9/9:30pm so we have plenty of time to socialise afterwards.

FOOD AND DRINK

🍕 Please update the spreadsheet below with what you’re bringing, and whether it’s gluten-free, veggie and/or vegan if you know. See what others have put and use your common sense so we get a good selection. We probably want more savoury/mains than sweets/desserts, and having some duplicates is fine!

🍽️ We will provide disposable plates, cutlery and napkins.

There are limited options for heating food, so either stick with cold food, or bring it straight from the oven.

Avoid liquid/sloppy food and bring whatever utensils are needed to serve / cut it up.

If it’s home cooked, please label it with your name so those with allergies/intolerances can ask. If it’s bought, please bring the packaging with it so people can check ingredients.

With everyone bringing something you don’t need to bring huge portions! Feel free to buddy up and bring something a bit bigger between two or more.

🍹 Please buy your drinks from the staffed bar (prices are reasonable).

Any questions please contact Jon at hello@jonwilson.coach or WhatsApp 07950 434645.

[Sing! Rehearsals] This Week’s Rehearsal

We look forward to seeing you this Thursday at 7.30 pm in the Recital Room at Hills Road.

This Week:
We will be recapping Keep Singing, learning some more of Call Ya Back and White Winter Hymnal. It's the Sopranos' turn to bring snacks please.

Mill Road Winter Fair performance:

Here are the details for our informal sing-along and performance at Mill Road Winter Fair this year!

WHEN? Saturday 6th December, arrive at 1:45pm, perform 2:00-2:45pm.

WHERE? Inside St Philip's Church, Mill Road, CB1 3AN. Please head upstairs on arrival – we'll gather in the upper room for warm ups. NB: Mill Road and some of the streets leading off it are closed to traffic on the day of the fair, so if you're driving you'll need to park a little further away and walk in (see the MRWF website for advice about getting there).

WHO? Everyone! Bring along your friends and family too; there will be sing-along carols for them to join in with 🎶

WHAT? This is a great chance to practise some of the repertoire we've been learning and to have fun singing some extra Christmas songs!

Dress code: Wear anything you like! Festive clothing and accessories (Xmas jumpers, tinsel, Santa hats etc.) are especially welcome!

Songs: We will be singing a mixture of:

· Our own songs, as follows. Please learn the words if at all possible!

o Keep Singing

o ABBA Gold medley

o Call Ya Back

o White Winter Hymnal

o Winter Song

o Wonder

One more song TBC

· Some well-known carols and Christmas songs (unrehearsed!). These will be audience sing-alongs, with lyrics provided, and you're welcome to sing standard harmonies & descants (bring a Carols for Choirs book if you happen to have one) or to sing the tune.

See you on Thursday 🙂

[Sing! Rehearsals] Sing! this week

Dear Sing!ers,

This week:
We look forward to seeing you again in the Recital Room at Hills Road this Thursday, ready to start at 7.30 pm if at all possible please 🙂. We will be recapping White Winter Hymnal, starting a new song Call 'Ya Back and continuing to learn All These Things That I've Done. It's the Alto's turn to bring snacks please.

Equipment rota:
We can all contribute to the choir in different ways. If you drive to choir, would you be able to help with the equipment rota please? This involves taking home a few items, including the amp and microphone, and clearing up and taking away any leftover snacks. You'd also need to be sure you are coming the following week, to bring it all back. If you can help, please put your name down on the rota. The more people who help, the less often you'll need to do it. Thank you!

See you on Thursday!

[Sing! Rehearsals] Sing! this week…

[Sing! Rehearsals] No Sing! This Week…

Dear Sing!ers,

No Sing! this week:
Huge apologies for the late cancellation of our Sing! rehearsal last week. We have considered having a rehearsal this week, but as a lot of people are away, we've decided not to meet this week. However, perhaps you would like to use the time to use the parts to make sure you are up to date with the songs we have learnt so far.

Sing! Super Saturday:
Many thanks to all who came and supported Sing! Super Saturday. There have been some very kind pieces of feedback. To help us plan these types of events in the future, please take 5mins to answer 3 questions in the link below.

Sing! Whatsapp Groups:
In case you missed an email a couple of weeks ago about our Whatsapp groups, read on:

We are excited to introduce you to the Sing! Community Choir Whatsapp Community! This will be a place where you can read last minute announcements (such as room changes) and join group conversations for your voice part, with other topic groups to be added soon. Joining this community is optional, and won't replace this mailing list, which will still be how we communicate the majority of information with you.

What you need to do:

1) Read these guidelines and decide whether you would like to join or not

(NB please read the guidance about making your name visible)

2) If you would like to join, click this link (from your phone), which should take you to Whatsapp and sign you up

3) Bear with us! This is going to be a learning experience for all of us so please speak to a member of the committee if you have any queries, suggestions or concerns and we will do our best to make this community function as smoothly as possible 🙂

We hope to move over some of the other Sing-related chat groups in the near future – before this happens, one of the group admins will let your group know so you have the option of whether to stay or leave.

We look forward to seeing you again next Thursday 6 November at Hills Road.
